Peace of Heaven
As our guest artist set foot outside his car, he said, "Is this heaven?" I replied, "At least a piece of heaven". So when it was time to name the estate on the hill, the piece of heaven became Peace of Heaven . Privacy and tranquility welcome every guest but it is up to them how they will enjoy it. Will they paint the scenery, write a poem, finish a novel, read a book, take a walk, photograph the sunset? Or, will they celebrate a victory, a birthday or an anniversary? Whatever the guest decides, it will be a time to retreat, reflect and renew. So come partake of the beauty, rest and inspiration.

Pearched atop a mountain ridge of Appalachia, the estate of 120 acres is a blend of wooded hillsides and hay field flats. The land is graced with an orchard of heirloom apple trees and patches of berries. The pond teems with catfish, bass and sunfish begging for food. Old buildings tell of a time when farming the land was the daily routine. Today the idle fields hide wild turkey and deer in abundance. Songbirds visit feeders daily.
The four distinct seasons create beauty year round. Winter has its quiet spaces with occasional snow. Spring brings flowers - fields of daffodils, redbud and apple blossoms followed by an abundance of dogwood trees that ignite the landscape. Summer is green and relaxing - the shaded hammock is the perfect place to cool off or nap. Fall is colorful, cool and invigorating - always evolving toward bare trees and important evergreens. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular and second only to the starry skies of dark nights. Sounds of nature are easy to hear, there is no competition.
The home seems to have stood at the apex for decades, if not a century. The memorable front doors open wide to welcome each guest - make yourself at home. Sitting rooms with fireplaces are perfect for visiting. The studio invites the creative soul to indulge and the piano waits to be played. Porches and pergola are perfect places to linger and take in the view of three states - North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. A heated swimming pool is waiting for swimmers from May to October.
Accomodations are flexible - six bedrooms with private or shared baths are available. A full kitchen is open to guests who wish to cook. A guest house with full amenities is also an option. Length of stay is your decision.
